So, we all know Counter-Strike 1.6, the good ole' CS born in 1999 which was THE competitive game of the last decade and until Global Offensive took over.

So, the first version of the game was a Half-Life mod, released in early 1999. Valve bought the rights of the game and the first official version was released in September 9, 2000. It has been 6323 as of today since Counter-Strike was first released officially, and still today more than 1 million people still play this game in a daily basis, being the second most played Counter-Strike game before Global Offensive.

So, would you guys agree that CS 1.6, a game that has been released 17 years ago, is the most longevous game ever?

Age of Empires II is still played (HD Version, but still), CS maybe, my guess is that it will still be played for another 10 years at least.

Your question has to do with the most living-game(s) - and yes CS 1.6 is one of them.

Since CS 1.6 is a first-person shooter, that should give you a hint at games that are comparable.

Just for clarity / posterity on the game: https://steamcharts.com/app/10

There are many other old FPS games, such as Quake, which has involved into Quake Champions.

Let's use Q3A for example (data from Steam players): https://steamcharts.com/app/2200

Quake and its predecessors (3, 2 and what not); don't have a player-base that is as large as CS 1.6.

Note, i'm referring to the concurrent player-base.
